The most recent DXCC Honour Roll listing was published in the August 2000 issue of QST, the official magazine of the ARRL. Standings include submissions up to 31 March this year.

DXCC Honour Roll membership is restricted to those DXCC members that need less than ten countries confirmed. Totals do not include credit for deleted countries.

North Korea remains the one country that eludes most DXers. Not a single North American has worked this country! On both CW and Phone, the leading stations have worked all countries. On RTTY, the top station (I5FLN) is still three countries short.

This year, no South African needs less than three countries. Although several stations are over 300 countries confirmed on CW and are making good progress towards the Honour Roll, a South African is yet to be listed on this mode. On RTTY, the situation is even bleaker: No ZS has even passed the 200 mark!

In 1996, when a South African extract was last published, the top South African was Van van der Watt ZS6LW. At the time, he needed only North Korea on Phone and on mixed modes. Unfortunately, Van died during July 2000. As no countries are expected to be added soon, and Chesterfield and East Timor will take him to nine needed, Van is expected to remain on the Honour Roll for several years to come. He is still the only South African ever to have reached the top rung, a position he occupied for most of the Eighties.

Two countries have recently been approved for addition to the list. While contacts with Chesterfield Reef (FK) and East Timor (4W6) already count for DXCC, cards can only be submitted from 1 October 2000. This listing therefore only reflects the current total of 332 countries. The increased total of 334 will show up in next year's Honour Roll listing, with a closing date of 31 March 2001.
